IATBLT Underrepresented Scholars Award
The Executive Board of the International Association for Task-based Language Teaching (IATBLT) is pleased to invite applications to the IATBLT Underrepresented Scholars Awards. IATBLT members who are residents in a “low-income” or in a “low-middle-income economy” country (as defined by the World Bank classification of economies) and have had an abstract accepted for presentation at the 11th International Conference on Task-based Language Teaching in Groningen, The Netherlands, are invited to apply.
The Executive Board will select up to two award recipients who will receive complimentary registration to the conference.
Selection criteria
Depending on career stage, outstanding academic and/or professional contributions to TBLT OR future promise as a contributor to research and/or practice of TBLT will be considered.
Application procedure
Please send your application to IATBLT member-at-large, Claudia Fernández, by email at cferna5@uic.edu. The deadline for applications is January 15, 2025.
Your application should include:
• Personal Data: Name, Position, Institution, Country
• Biography (100-150 words) in which you describe your academic background and career
• Accepted Abstract
• Statement of motivation (50-100 words) in which you describe why you wish to apply for the award and how you expect to benefit from attending the conference.
• A confirmation that you will be able to attend the conference and accept the award in person in Groningen.
The recipients of the award will be selected by a Selection Committee made up of two representatives of the IATBLT Executive Board and two representatives of the local conference organising committee. They will submit their recommendation for the award to the President of IATBLT, who makes the final decision.
